[Movie] HUGO

This weekend we decided to watch a movie. Since I knew HUGO was already on 21cineplex midnight show, I brainwashed my boyfriend to watch it with me. The movie won 5 (five) Academy Awards so what’s the reason to not watch it? IT’S A MUST WATCH MOVIE! XD

After dinner we bought the movie tickets for 4 os us (+ my 2 sisters). Actually we’re planning to watch the 3D movie but there’s no buy 1 get 1 promo (cheap mode on~). I read on youtube, “it’s best to see it on 3D, if you watch the 2D then it’s just an ordinary movie” – something like that. And everyone’s been comparing (on Youtube) the movie with Harry Potter! Now I know why! Some of the main casts played in Harry Potter before!

The movie started at 12 AM! My first time experience watching movie at a very late time :P I was  very sleepy at the beginning. Yawning all the time, especially during the talk part. But once you understand the movie, you’ll begin to open your eyes and started to enjoy it.

The movie was directed by Martin Scorsese. And one of the producers is Johnny Depp!! OMG!

Starring :

  • Ben Kingsley as George Meilies
  • Sacha Baron Cohen as Station Inspector
  • Asa Butterfield as Hugo Cabret
  • Chloë Grace Moretz as Isabelle
  • Helen McCrory as Mama Jeanne (remember Narcissa Malfoy?)
  • Frances de la Tour (Madame Maxime in Harry Potter)
  • Richard Griffithsas as Monsieur Frick (Uncle Vernon!!!)
  • Jude Law as Hugo’s father

From the synopsis I thought it’s gonna be movie about “clock repairer” like Sylar in HEROES :)) But I was wrong! It’s not just about that! It’s something more than a clock repairer. The movie taught us a lot of things. The main theme is to never give up your dreams! Even if you’re forgotten, but there are someone out there who will always support you (and your hard works). After it’s finished I was saying to my self “wow, this movie was really beautiful!!”

One of G.Meilies movie "A Trip to the Moon"

This movie also taught me history of film maker in 1800! How the movie was produced at that era, how everything was crafted by hand and not machine-produced. George Meilies (he was a real person btw) was known as an illusionist and a film maker. Sometimes he played as an actor in his movie together with his wife. He created film in color by painting the frames one by one with hands. Since he started as an illusionist, I think it helped him to create “magic” on his movie. He’s also acreative thinker and a hard worker! I’m really inspired by his work. He combined his skills all together and create something new. Very inspiring person T__T *terharu*

The movie is focused on relation between Hugo-Papa George-Isabelle. But the rest of the casts also played a great role in the movie, If not, it’s going to be a very boring movie :p When the movie got so boring, the funny quartet » Station Inspector-Lisette the flower seller-Madame Emillie-and Monsieur Frick will go in action and entertain us :p Those 4 are so funny!

Some people might think this movie will be very boring, like my boyfriend and my 2nd sister. They said the movie is just talk and talk! DUHH, these People >.<”!! Well it’s up to you to decide if this movie’s good or not. But if you’re someone who’s curious about a lot of things -like me-, you’re gonna enjoy this movie XD Did I say it inspires me too? :3
